Strategy[]
Loot abilities which allow you to draw a card, then discard a card will allow you to just draw a card while Irel is in play, so these can be a great source of card advantage. Cards like Lightning Sprite and Pitfall Trap allow you to do this repeatedly.
Sleepless Night will allow you to draw four cards without discarding your hand.

Cards like Tavrod, Auric Broker, which draw cards from a certain number on the top of your deck and discard the rest, will draw the cards as usual and leave the rest on top of your deck.
Cards abilities like Learned Herbalist and Whispering Wind, which give you an option to discard a card to do something, or Lys, Champion of Linrei which make a player discard, then do something, will not have any effect while Irel is in play.
This card will allow you to keep more than 9 cards in your hand without discarding as you would normally have to. However, once you have 12 cards, any additional cards you attempt to draw (at the beginning of your turn or otherwise) will go to the void.
