  • Hey, been a while!

    I just uploaded the card images for the 23 primary Into Shadow cards (here) and the token frame images for their noncollectibles. I also updated the preformatted page layout (manual entries, not the auto one) for the new campaign.

    It will be a while before I can make the actual card pages, so I figured I'd let you know, in case you (or anyone who sees this on the activity feed) wants to work on them sooner.

    I'll try to capture the noncollectible card images and update the set icons in the next week or so.

    • I'll set up the card pages now, thanks for the work.

      It's a busy time of year.

  • Hey, I was hoping you could check out something I'm testing. I wanted add icons to {{CardHover}} and {{KeywordHover}}, to give a visual indicator for what's a hover-popup instead of a normal link.

    I'm adding the icons in CSS, so to see them you would need to test the following in your common.css:

    .hoverLink.kwHover::after {
        content:'';
        display: inline-block;
        height: 12px;
        width: 12px;
        margin: 0 0 .25em -.2em;
        background: transparent url(https://slot1-images.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb7020017020012/common/skins/shared/images/sprite.png) -818px 0/auto 64px no-repeat;
    }

    .hoverLink.cdHover::before {
        content:'';
        display: inline-block;
        height: 1em;
        width: 20px;
        margin: 0 .1em -0.1em 0;
        background: transparent url(https://slot1-images.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb7020017020012/common/skins/shared/images/sprite.png) -1054px -81px/auto no-repeat;
    }

    These are just using a wikia sprite image that contains a few of their wiki icons, but we could customize them to something else if we wanted (something more 'Eternal'-y maybe).

    I think these look pretty good, but I'm hoping to get a second opinion before pushing something site-wide that affects a ton of existing pages. For an extreme example with a lot of hovers currently, check out the Icaria page.

    I added icons through CSS, instead of adding them directly with [[File:...etc]], because the CSS would be stripped away on the mobile wiki skin where I didn't want them to show. Ideally the hover content would only show on the desktop skin anyway. Currently it shows in-line on mobile and breaks the page flow, so figuring out how to hide the hover content on mobile is another project :P

    If you get the chance to try it, let me know what you think. If it looks fine I'll add it site-wide. Thanks!

  • I added the 'Lore:' namespace that I had mentioned before, so we can use it for story pages. (I was emailing with wikia support about another wiki anyway and figured I'd ask rather than opening a new ticket :P) I figure we can try it out for now, and if it turns out there's not much interest we can always rename any lore pages and delete the namespace later.

    I might post in the discord #lore section to see if there are any would-be editors, and maybe try another reddit post when theres some decent pages to show off.

    • I saw Lore:Rolant. What are we counting as references? Because he's on quite a few cards, such as In Cold Blood and Solitude, even though they don't directly say his name.

      Shouldn't they count as depictions?

      References would be more along the lines of Rolant's Memorial and Rolant's Honor Guard, right?

      Maybe split the categories into: Cards, Depictions and References?

        Loading editor
    • 'Depictions' and 'References' are probably the wrong word for the current use - the page is 100% experimental work-in-progress right now so we can change any of it. I was just avoiding using a 'Cards' label inside the 'Cards' section. But yes, some split between

      1. actual cards of the character
      2. cards with direct ties to the character - gear (Rolant's Fist), actions (Rolant's Choice), etc
      3. story references to the character (In Cold Blood)

      needs to be made and better terminology used.

      For the current 'References' section I was trying to riff off of this LoL character infobox but 'Weapons/Pets' didn't sound quite right either.

      These don't necessarily have to go in the infobox - direct cards probably should be but the rest can go in a 'References' section of the article. Plus CardHovers and artwork can be used throughout as references.

  • Just finished uploading all the main, collectible FoA card images. I already updated all the existing pages for the spoiled collectible cards (added card numbers and fixed the 2 cards that were renamed between spoiler and launch), so we should only need to worry about adding the new pages now.

    I'm going to get started on the noncollectible and token-frame images. Then I'll update the Project:Card Lists page with the new set, so seeing which pages are missing should be easier. Let me know if you find any missing images, I likely took the screenshot but accidentally skipped editing or uploading it afterwards.

    • I'll finish up The Dusk Road the old way in the meantime. There's enough that I can get a good chunk of it tonight.

    • Sounds good! I just saw your Discord messages btw, I'll need to get in the habit of checking that (I literally just signed up for it the other day so I could ask a question about one of the FoA spoilers). Idk how you find all these artists but keep up the great work :)

      I'll knock out some FoA cards tonight. I've been distracted again playing with cosmetic stuff rather than adding the new cards, let me know what you think — Dead Reckoning is showing 2 new templates, {{SetInfobox}} and {{ImageQuote}}. Although its pretty, I'm worried the banner image pushes the other elements too far down the page.

  • Now that DWD has made an official FoA spoiler page, how long do you think we should keep adding cards to ours? I think the extreme of 'all the cards' up to the whole set being revealed may go too far, especially because its a bit redundant and most people will now prefer the official one anyway. Completely stopping & pointing to the DWD page is an option, but I think at least any new mechanics and such revealed before launch should be added. I'm sure there's a happy middle ground, I was wondering what you think about it.

      Loading editor
    • The reddit spoiler thread is fine at updating anyways.

      DWD stops updating theirs after a week or two, leaving out most of the set, as well.

      Just link to the reddit and DWD ones when you want to stop updating it.

  • Hey again, thanks for adding that mainpage gallery!

    About the {{Stub}} template thats been typically added on every card page... I was wondering, is it really necessary? Most pages have the 'Strategy' section with the 'Nothing here yet!' text, but I imagine not every card will need to use it, and it can be filled out whenever there is something worth adding. Beyond that, is there anything missing or planned for card pages that would currently make them stubs?

    With that in mind, I've removed the stub template as I edit card pages since yesterday, though I won't mind going back and replacing it if you want it kept in place.

  • I collected all the spoilers I could find from the subreddit and added them here. There are some new templates, riffing off the card infoboxes to showcase new cards without cards images.

    I also made a mainpage gallery template. I wanted to double check if its ok to change the mainpage before adding it, some wikis prefer the mainpage to be edited by admins only. Its main purpose is to increase the spoiler page's visibility, the other 3 links just seemed like OK ones for the main page. Of course, if we use it any of the links can be adjusted as needed.

  • Hey Yumyum! It seems like activity has died down a bit lately as we've all gotten busy. I just wanted to check in on a few things before diving back in:

    • Have you had the chance to check out the potential CSS/infobox updates (in this thread)?
    • Any plans for the upcoming set 4 spoiler season? I've seen some preview art popping up in the subreddit lately, should we be uploading them and starting a spoiler section?
    • Should we add flavor info to the wiki? We could request a custom namespace like Lore: or Story: to use for the (borrowing the MtG term) Vorthos content.
    • There are still a few missing card pages - I figured I'd add them once the infobox update is finished. After that, anything else you would like to see focused on?

    • I think everything is good for now. You referred to a bunch of them as noncollectable, and token is MTG terminology, so we'll go with that.

      Also I saw you marking a bunch of cards as "Heros" on their pages. Is there any point to that? The cards being heros shouldn't have any gameplay impact.

        Loading editor
    • To be clear, I'm not against using 'Token', I just think it should be used when more broadly referring to cards generated by other cards.

      'Hero' does nothing currently - but it is a searchable tag in the game and DWD's announcement about it said they may add functionality in the future. Since we're updating all the old card pages anyway with keywords & tokens, I saw no reason not to future-proof by adding Hero as well. As a bonus, its a nice category to have for anyone who might be interested in finding Eternal's characters or creating Vorthos-y type content :)

      Btw I should be finished updating all of set 1's cards, starting on set 2 now. I'm hoping to get caught up in time for set 4's release/Eternal's full launch.

    Is there like a to do list or in progress list of pages? I don't mind making stuff but guidance is always key to me. Thanks for your time.

    • Just uploaded the missing Dusk Road cards, so all the player-collectable cards should now have images (note: Copperhall Bailiff's image appears to be missing but its available here, it just needs a spelling fix).

      I started taking screenshots of non-collectibles (i.e. token cards) and ai-only (gauntlet, campaign) cards, but it will be a bit before I upload them. I'll need to make new photoshopping templates because they only appear in matches where they appear smaller and aren't exact 1:1 scaled down of the larger collection images.

      I have a bunch more token-frame images for the non-collectibles ready to go too, if we want to use them in hover tooltips.

      Other cards with pre-existing images may need updating if they've been altered by game patches, let me know if you notice any.

  • Hi Yumyum,

    First I wanted to thank you for those quick fixes to the pages I made, especially that Card Hover template should come in handy :)

    I have a few questions about the wiki...

    Card Hover
    Minor concern here... it seems that on mobile the template inserts the full size image in the text (in the mobile preview anyway, I don't have a smart phone or tablet to confirm its real-world effect). Is there a way to turn it into a normal link on mobile? I think the mobile skin strips out styling, but if not maybe something like a media query could fix it (I don't know much about CSS, I haven't used it myself beyond some basics).
    Card Images & Pages
    Does the ultimate goal of this wiki include uploading images and making pages for every card, basically making a full database? Or are they only used as needed as examples for other articles? I don't want to step on any toes by mass uploading images if the plan is to point users to another database site instead (like the one linked under the Community dropdown).
    Categories
    On a similar note, if the goal is to upload images for each card, is there a plan in place for categorizing them? I see most of the current ones are currently uncategorized. I don't want to mess around with it if you prefer them that way.
    Card Infobox
    I read the old forums discussion and see the draft with the newer infobox formatting... any plans to roll it out? I could tinker with it in a separate sandbox if you have some issues that need fixing.

    Sorry for the massive post, I just wanted to check these things before mucking about too much. I've been active on another gaming wiki since last June, so I'm not exactly a newbie with this stuff, but every wiki has their own way of doing things. Great job on the wiki so far!

    • Great! I may get into cleaning up categories a bit, starting with non-content stuff like templates and images. I'll come up with a draft for some DWD copyright/fair use template as well, I may as well add it while I'm on the image pages anyway. Even if the template itself gets updated the template call can be in place.

      Btw, I noticed you have the default root category 'Browse' nested under a 'Site' category. Any particular guidelines for how these should be used?

        Loading editor
    • Heres a first pass at the image attribution template: {{CardImage}}

      It includes an update to the {{Fairuse}} template for freeuse/copyright disclaimer.

      Example in use
