The Fire Within was the first tutorial campaign and served as the player's introduction to Eternal. It was the first part in the Scions storyline, preceding Shades of Time and Who Shall Rule?. With patch v1.35 (June 2018), the tutorial was re-designed, combining the three sections into The Empty Throne [1].
The Fire Within opened automatically for new players, and had to be completed before the rest of the game was made available. Finishing it granted access to the full user interface, including the player profile customizations and the collection and deck builder interfaces. Most items became available in the in-game store and players were given their first quests. The two remaining Scions tutorials, the paid campaigns, and the Gauntlet, Forge, and Draft modes were unlocked. Puzzles remained locked until the remaining Scions campaigns were completed. Event, Casual, and Ranked modes were locked as well, until their own conditions were met.
Campaign[]
The Fire Within introduces Kaleb, the Uncrowned Prince and the Fire faction. The initial missions walk the player through the game's user interface and mechanics, using prompts to direct player's interactions and drawing cards in a pre-determined order. Players are granted more freedom in their decisions as the missions progress.
Beating missions unlocks new cards for the player's campaign deck, and are included in the theme deck rewarded on completion of the full campaign.
